About YBG
The Guernsey Young Business Group (YBG) was formed some five decades ago to provide a specific focus for the younger element of the business community to meet, discuss common issues and extend their business network. Today the group's primary objective remains unchanged.
Over the years YBG has grown in size and now boasts in excess of 80 members representing a diverse range of business areas from within the island. The result is a melting pot of skills, knowledge and views, providing members with a real opportunity to socialise and broaden their contacts through every area of business.
The main focus of YBG's regular activity is the monthly lunch or dinner club which gives a chance for informal discussion before and during a meal followed by a presentation from a topical speaker. In addition YBG organise a number of events including an annual trip to Herm, a quiz and a biennial ball.
As well as the socially focussed events organised by the group, YBG is also involved in a number of other initiatives such as the annual Business Trends Survey undertaken on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce. YBG is keen to encourage new and young businesses through organising the Bill Green Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit and is also proud to be a founder member of the Guernsey Enterprise Agency.
The Island community is also supported through YBG's long running commitment to assist in the coordination of the hanging of the Christmas Lights display in St Peter Port, which culminates in the big 'switch on day'.
Guiding all these activities is a council elected annually from the membership. If you are interested in joining or simply finding out more about the group, its members and its activities, please get in contact with Kenny-Lee Holberry, our Membership Secretary
