The Young Business Group was formed, in connection with the Chamber of Commerce, over fifty years ago to provide a specific focus for the younger element of the business community to meet, discuss common issues and extend their business network. The group’s primary objective remains unchanged.

Over the years YBG has grown in size and now boasts in excess of 100 members, representing a diverse range of business areas from within the island. YBG provides members with a real opportunity to socialise and broaden their contacts.

The main focus of YBG’s networking activity is the monthly lunch, dinner or networking events (in rotation). The lunches and dinners provide a chance for informal discussion before and during the meal, followed by a presentation from a topical speaker. The networking evenings are activity focused and provide a further opportunity for networking in an informal environment. YBG truly offers something for everyone. In addition YBG organise a number of events throughout the year including an annual dinner in Herm, a quiz and a summer ball.

As well as the regular monthly events, YBG is also involved in a number of other community initiatives, such as the Annual Business Trends Survey undertaken on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, presentation of the Bill Green Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit (administered by YBG on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce) and coordination of the Christmas Parade and the switch on of the Christmas lights by Father Christmas. YBG is also proud to be a founder member of the Guernsey Enterprise Agency.

If you are interested in joining YBG, or would like to know more about the group, its members and activities please contact our membership secretary at secretary@ybg.gg.
