Liz Hodder (President)

Liz is a solicitor at Carey Olsen and specialises in civil litigation and insurance litigation. Liz also advises clients on non-contentious regulatory matters, including intellectual property and data protection.

Liz qualified as a solicitor in 2007, following which she returned to the island. In her spare time Liz enjoys photography, spending time with her friends and family, and taking advantage of the outdoor activities the island has to offer.

Gillian Mabbett (Vice President)

Gillian is the Corporate Account Manager for Channel Television. Splitting her time between Jersey and Guernsey, Gillian’s role is to promote corporate and commercial television production to local businesses.

Gillian joined YBG in 2008 and has enjoyed the opportunity it’s given her to make new business contacts in an informative and friendly environment. In her spare time Gillian enjoys running and cycling, socialising with friends and live music – attending as many concerts as possible each year.

Debra Smith (Treasurer)

Debra is an actuary and Senior Manager with the BWCI Group. She advises on a range of pension matters for UK, Channel Island, Isle of Man and international clients focusing on actuarial valuations, accounting disclosures and regulatory compliance. She specialises in UK legislation including the application of the UK tax regime to UK and overseas pension plans.

Andrew Partlow (Social Secretary)

Andrew Joined YBG Council on 1 March 2012. He is a Manager at Situations Recruitment Agency. Andrew is a graduate in Business Information Systems who is also REC qualified and has 7 years varied recruitment experience gained in the UK and Guernsey. He joined the Young Business Group in 2010 and has enjoyed meeting new people and has found the whole experience very rewarding. In his spare time Andrew enjoys playing Tennis, running, going to the Gym and socialising with friends and family.

Esther Dodd (Former President)

Esther has maintained a seat on the Young Business Group Council since 1999, she was YBG President in 2009 and continues to enjoy her involvement with the group (which has changed a great deal since she first joined!). By day, Esther is a sales negotiator with local estate agency, Martel Maides where she is able to indulge her passion for property in assisting people finding their dream homes. In order to unwind, Esther enjoys walking, reading, gardening and Pimm’s!

Russell Isabelle (Council Member)

Russell co-founded Indulge Media in May 2009, who specialize in digital, creative and marketing services including consultancy, website and applications design, development and project management. Before returning to the island he spent 5 years working in London as a designer after graduating with a Ba (Hons) in graphic design. In his spare time he enjoys playing football, going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.

Russell joined the YBG council in March 2012 and is responsible for the YGB website and digital marketing.

Steve Rouxel (Council Member)

Stephen is a Manager for State Street. Stephen previously worked for Butterfield Fulcrum Group in 2008 and before that a Project Manager for RBS Trustee and Depository and as a Client Relationship Manager for Anson Fund Managers Limited. Stephen joined YBG in 2008, was elected to council in 2009 and became Company Secretary in 2012. Stephen is married with two children and, in his spare time, enjoys acting with the both GADOC and Guernsey Youth Theatre, reading and helping with YBG.

Fay Warrilow (Council Member)

After nearly a decade working as a freelance researcher and writer specialising in global political and social issues, Fay decided to train as a lawyer and is currently halfway through the barristers’ professional training course. She works in Carey Olsen’s litigation department, in areas including civil and commercial litigation and employment. In her spare time, Fay plays ukulele in a local band and very occasionally goes to the gym.

Jade Isabelle (Council Member)

As founder and Managing Director of niche media agency Black Vanilla, Jade has broad experience in many aspects of the business arena. Her media industry background enabled her to identify an opportunity to launch the agency five years ago. The Agency handles several national brands, as well as working locally. Further development of Black Vanilla, has recently led to the creation of PR, Events and Consultancy arms of the business, based at its new premises in The Grange. Jade enjoys keeping fit the hard way through bootcamp, stretching through yoga, and catching up with friends with a glass of wine.

Lindsey Dean (Council Member)

Lindsey is a qualified Chartered Accountant and is an Audit Manager at Saffery Champness. She has developed her own client portfolio covering various types of companies, provides accounting support in house and manages the Practical Experience Requirement Scheme for trainees within the firm.  After obtaining an honours degree in Accounting and Finance from her hometown in Brighton, she permanently moved to Guernsey in 2003.

In her spare time Lindsey enjoys running and completed the inaugural Brighton Marathon in 2010. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, travelling and taking long walks along Guernsey’s beautiful coastline.

Lindsey became a YBG member in 2010.
