What is your current job and how long have you been doing it?

I am a senior manager for the Investment department at BWCI. I joined BWCI in 1995 after obtaining a first in maths with computer studies from Sussex University and I am a qualified actuary.

What does a typical day at the office look like for you?

My job is quite varied, as well as managing workflows within the team I provide training, develop new services and report results to our clients. The job gives me a chance to use both my maths and computing skills. I enjoy creating mathematical models to meet client needs involving colleagues in their use.

If you weren’t doing your current job what would you like to do?

I’ve always enjoyed working and meeting other people and hence why I enjoy being part of YBG so much as it enables you to make lots of contacts within a friendly and enjoyable environment. I have previously considered a career in teaching.

What was your first job?

My first full time job was at BWCI. However I held a Saturday job at St David’s from the age of 13 to 21 working as a shop assistant. I enjoyed working with the staff there and meeting the public and I am now pretty good at folding clothes and hanging curtains!

What is your role/involvement with YBG?

I have been a member of YBG for many years. I was also on YBG council for a number of years only recently standing down, having held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President. As many will know I am a keen supporter of YBG and always take an active role in the Christmas parade.

What is your favourite thing to do in Guernsey?

I enjoy kayaking around Guernsey. Being out at sea gives you a completely different perspective on Guernsey and is a great way to relax with friends.

Which three people would you have at the dinner table and why?

Richard Branson – for inspiration

Jamie Oliver – because I love cooking

Jenna-Louise Coleman – because everyone needs an assistant.
