Bill Green and Anvil award winners announced

TWO awards were presented in recognition of contribution to local business at the Chamber of Commerce dinner on 27th November 2009. Sueco Cookery School was presented with the Bill Green Award in recognition of their innovative and successful business enterprise and businessman Tony Creasey received the Anvil Award for long standing service and contribution to the Chamber of Commerce.

TWO awards were presented in recognition of contribution to local business at the Chamber of Commerce dinner on 27th November 2009. Sueco Cookery School was presented with the Bill Green Award in recognition of their innovative and successful business enterprise and businessman Tony Creasey received the Anvil Award for long standing service and contribution to the Chamber of Commerce.

Former president of YBG, Mr Creasey has been managing director of Creaseys Limited since 1989.  He has been involved with various organisations including the Chamber of Commerce council and retail sub-committee - as well as supporting Festive Décor in their contribution to the Town Centre lights.

This year’s recipients of the Bill Green Award, which recognises a local company who has displayed real entrepreneurial spirit, impressed the judging panel with their passion for business. The Sueco Cookery School was launched in 2008 by Hugh and Merrilee Tabel with cookery courses led by James Ferguson and has gone from strength to strength.  The school aims to demystify cooking and introduce clients to a range of foods and cooking styles utilising their available resources in order to maximise return on investment.

The other finalists in the running for the Bill Green Award included online credit referencing service, Channel Island Data Services; event organisers, Eventure; and human resources company, Focus HR.

‘The judges were particularly impressed with the Sueco Cookery School's presentation, which included the judges’ involvement in cooking a dish - giving a fabulous practical insight into the working of the business’, said YBG President Esther Dodd.

A raffle at the Chamber of Commerce dinner raised £1880 for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
