The Bill Green Award
Bill Green was a local business man who lived in Guernsey during the occupation by the Germans and went on to become President of the Guernsey Rotary Club. Bill had a book written about his life entitled 'Guernsey Green: The Life and Times of Guernseyman Bill Green' by William Mather Bell.
The Bill Green Award for Entreprenerial Spirit is awarded annually by YBG, on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and presented by Bill Green's daughter - Maggie Talbot-Cull in her fathers memory. Most recent past winning companies include The Sueco Cookery School and PetPorte Limited.
The Award is presented at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner, to local companies which demonstrate 'Entreprenerial Spirit' and the judging panel is drawn from members of the Guernsey Enterprise Agency, the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce and the Young Business Group.
In order to enter, companies need to submit a written letter explaining the background, a brief explanation of the business and future objectives and initiatives of the company. All of the entries are shortlisted by the judges and the next stage involves a short visit to the premises of those firms in the running for the award.
Applications for the Bill Green Award should be sent to the YBG President.
